Auch in der Woche 44 sind wieder einige interessante Neuerscheinungen dabei. Timourous Beastie kommt in einer 21yo Sherry Ausgabe. Glenfarclas stellt vier alte Bekannte in einer Sondergröße von 200ml auf den Markt. anCnoc kommt mit einem weiteren peated und einem 35yo. Die SMWS hat ihr November Outturn vorgestellt: HEART-WARMING. Und gleich zwei Society Bottlings von der Springbank Society.

Timorous Beastie

Kaum ist die 40yo Ausgabe herausgekommen, war sie auch schon ausverkauft. Und schon steht die nächste Ausgabe des Blended Malts in den Startlöchern. Dieses Mal mit 21 Jahren und einem hohen Sherryfassanteil. Auch der klingt sehr spannend.

• Nose: Wonderfully sweet – warming to Oloroso, barley, honey and spices plus soft macerated summer fruit
• Palate: As spiced as “the original” but now detect grist, honey and raisins enhanced by crunched demerara sugar
• Finish: Gently warming peppery spices to the fore – and now cocoa, vanilla and burnt meringue show through too

anCnoc – Rùdhan

The term ‘rùdhan’ [roo-an] refers to the final stage, in which the peat is stacked for several weeks to dry out ahead of burning to create the signature smokiness associated with the range.

• Colour: Pale Straw
• Nose: A light fruitiness kicks off this elegant dram. Delicate floral notes play their part before bowing out to a burnt wood smokiness.
• Taste: On the palate, it takes on a whole new character. Earthy peat smoke still prevalent, it is now accompanied by the more robust notes of spice and burnt sugar.
• Finish: The finish is smooth and warm.

Bereits letzte Woche habe ich von der weiteren peated Version berichtet: Stack. Der Rùdhan ist mir leider vor ein paar Wochen „durchgerutscht“ – genau wie der 35yo.

anCnoc – 35yo

Giving rise to a unique dram that still retains its youthful edge; the 35-year-old has top notes of lemon curd, green apples and cut flowers followed by honey sweetness, creamy toffee, leather and spice. Warming wood smoke makes for a fragrant and rich aroma.

On the palate, it is oily and full-bodied with caramel honey and fresh vanilla complementing the subtle smokiness and warm spice.

Im Preview-Tasting in Hamburg wurden gestern die folgenden vorgestellt: 39.132, 30.92, 84.21, 72.49 und 3.271. „Allesamt sehr lecker“ war der Eindruck aller Teilnehmer. Und den 72.49 fanden wir alle besonders Klasse. Evtl. ein Grund, warum der schon ausverkauft ist….

Longrow

• NOSE: Rich walnut, pecan, notes of stewed fruits with woodiness and scent of worn leather
• TASTE: Stewed fruits remain, rhubarb, dunnage warehouse flavour and woody
• FINISH: Meaty and chewy, dry with menthol as the smokiness builds up.
