NdW 33|16: Balvenie, Inchmurrin, BenRiach, GlenDronach, Glenfarclas, Hunter Laing

Auch diese Woche gibt es Neuerscheinungen. Ziemlich viele sogar. Balvenie stellt den Batch 3 aus der Serie Tun 1509 ab September vor. Drei neue Inchmurrin von der Loch Lomond Distillery gibt es ab sofort. BenRiach hat gleich mehrfach zugeschlagen: 17yo PX, 21yo Tawny Port und Batch 13 der Single Cask Reihe. Auch von GlenDronach gibt es einen neuen. Auch Glenfarclas hat neue Abfüllungen angekündigt (ab September verfügbar). Und auch von Hunter Laing sind einige neue Abfüllungen erschienen und vermutlich schon abverkauft.

Balvenie – Tun 1509, Batch 3

Ab September erhältlich!

Aus der Pressemitteilung: „Für den lang ersehnten Tun 1509 Batch 3, der in einer limitierten Auflage von 253 Flaschen in Deutschland erscheint, schöpfte David Stewart aus seinem reichen Erfahrungsschatz und wählte handverlesen 31 der wertvollsten Fässer aus den edelsten Beständen der Brennerei aus. Nach der Selektion wurden diese im Warehouse 24 in das „Tun 1509“ gefüllt – ein eindrucksvolles, großes Eichenfass in dem die Whiskys für mehrere Monate vermählt werden. Diese seltene Methode erlaubt es allen 31 Fässern zu einer einzigartigen Kreation zu verschmelzen, die größer ist als die Summe ihrer Teile.“

Offizielle Notes

• Duft: Feine Aromen von Holz, getrockneten Früchten und einer Zimt- und Ingwer- würze.
• Geschmack: Süßlich, elegante Honignoten mischen sich mit lieblichen Vanille- sowie intensiv holzigen Gewürznoten und dem Aroma von dunklen Früchten und Sherry.

Fass-Verteilung

Für die Neugierigen habe ich sogar noch die Fassverteilung der 31 Fässer….

• 12 Sherry Fässer, die zwischen 1989 und 1992 abgefüllt wurden,
• 11 Hogshead-Fässer aus amerikanischer Eiche, abgefüllt im Jahr 1989 und
• 8 Refill-Fässer aus amerikanischer Eiche, abgefüllt in den Jahren 1992 und 1993.

Inchmurrin – 12yo

• NOSE: Distinctively fruity with pear drops and to ee sweetness. Light notes of freshly cut hay in summer sun.
• TASTE: Seville orange citrus notes build in intensity before mellowing into softer fruits of peach and apricot. The fruit character gives way to creamy fudge and vanilla.
• FINISH: Medium length with peppery nish.

Inchmurrin – Madeira

• NOSE: Fresh citrus orange bursts on the nose giving way to almond marzipan comes through with nutmeg.
• TASTE: Velvet smooth and welcoming on the tongue. Fruity character of peach and g is overlaid with rich butterscotch and delicate walnut.
• FINISH: Long nish, dry grape tannins and oak, lingering nuttiness.

Inchmurrin – 18yo

• NOSE: Rich, deep aromas of heather honey perfectly balanced with crafted oak wood notes.
• TASTE: Full bodied with strong oak character in harmony with tropical fruit of pineapple, mango and kiwi. Zesty citrus notes emerge in the background.
• FINISH: Long and warming, elegant oak and stem ginger.

BenRiach – 17yo PX

Aus der Pressemitteilung: „It has been matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels and replaces the renowned 15YO expression. This creamy, fruity whisky, has been finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks sourced from the bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalucia, Southern Spain.“

• Colour: Gleaming polished mahogany.
• Nose: Creamy spices, chocolate and sugar-coated almonds flow over sweet sultanas and dark fruit cake.
• Taste: Dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee beans merge with sweet dates and fresh figs. Delightful, peppery vintage oak and warm cigar box spices
• Finish: long, contrasting

BenRiach – 21yo Tawny Port

Aus der Pressemitteilung: „This remarkable 21YO was first matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels and then finished in a small batch of top-quality Tawny Port casks sourced from the Douro region in the north of Portugal.“

• Colour: Rich amber with a copper glow.
• Nose: A perfect balance of fresh cranberries and warm white pepper develops to a combination of tart raspberries and boiled candy.
• Taste: Delicious toasted oak spices and hints of orange peel develop to a lively contrast of wild red berry compote and sour cherries, followed by a rich stewed barley character.

Rich vintage leather and old oaky characters add a classic aged depth.“

GlenDronach – 14yo

• Colour: Light gold. Freshly harvest straw.
• Nose: Toasted oak elements which are so intense that smoky attributes emerge. Sweet and lush tropical fruits rise with prominence. Banana and cacao, with roasted coconut.
• Palate: Spiced ginger and cinnamon cake with a beautiful smoky twist. Creamed desiccated coconut and fresh buttered toast with a handful of hazelnuts on the side.
• Conclusion: A glorious nut feast with superb depth.

Glenfarclas – 1978

Aus der Produktbeschreibung: „Diese Glenfarclas Abfüllung ist eine Rarität aus den ältesten Fasskellern der Destillerie und reifte 38 Jahre in ehemaligen Sherryfässern. Es ist ein goldfarbener Malt mit Aromen von Apfel, exotischen Früchten und feiner Eichenholznote. Im Geschmack würzige Aromen, Bitterschokolade und Lakritz. Malzige Süße und feine Sherry Aromen im Abgang.“

Aus der Produktbeschreibung: „Diese Highland Single Malts sind Raritäten der unabhängigen Distillery Glenfarclas. Destilliert im Dezember des Jahres 1989 bzw. 2007, erfolgte die Reifung der “Oloroso Sherry Casks” im alten Fasskeller der Brennerei. Es erwarten Sie elegante, bernsteinfarbene Single Malt Whiskys, mit komplexen Frucht- und Sherryaromen.“

  Palate: Buttery smooth on the palate with vanilla and dark chocolate to the fore then more rich fruits and citrus notes

  Palate: A sweet creamy taste of rich fruits marzipan and apple crumble on the palate
