Glenfiddich

Zum IPA: „In our first groundbreaking experiment, Malt Master Brian Kinsman has proven that traditional whisky casks can still be seasoned in a pioneering way. Collaborating with a local Speyside craft brewer, Brian created a bold and zesty IPA beer to imbue our rich oak casks with extra hoppy notes. The experiment resulted in the first single malt Scotch whisky ever finished in craft IPA casks.

Finished in bespoke craft IPA barrels, our pioneering new malt is imbued with unique zesty citrus notes and the subtle tang of fresh hops. The flavour comes with carefully hand selecting the right malt whiskies to complement the extra hoppy notes.“ Mehr bei Glenfiddich.

Zum XX: „Our second experiment of the series took place privately at our Conval warehouse. Shrouded in secrecy, malt Master Brian Kinsman invited 20 whisky experts from around the world to select any expression of their choosing from the thousands of stacked casks. The final 20 chosen malts, matured in everything from port pipes to virgin bourbon barrels, have created an unusual, innovative and unexpected whisky, one that has exceeded even our expectations.

Deep gold in colour, Project XX has the warm summer fruity character of a classic Glenfiddich but then multiple personalities are revealed as the flavour of sweet cinnamon spice, almonds and rich port tannins kick in with the odd hint of liquorice.“ Mehr bei Glenfiddich.

Kilchoman

The Sauternes Cask Matured has been bottled at 50%abv and will be released on our website and in various markets around the world on Wednesday 7th September at 10am – £73.50. The Limited Edition release of just 6,000 bottles has been matured for over five years in Sauternes casks from Bordeaux. Sauternes Cask Matured follows Port and Madeira cask matured expressions released in recent year and continues the small batch ‘full term maturation’ rather than the more common practice of finishing whisky in such casks for a short period prior to bottling. The Sauternes casks have influenced the spirit with an intriguing mix of maritime peat smoke, sweetness and citrus vibrancy.

Glenfarclas – 30yo

The Glenfarclas 30 Years Old promises full complex aromas with fruit and sherried malty tones on the nose. The flavour reveals sherry, cognac, brandy, fruit, and a beautiful combination of nutty marzipan and icing. A whisky you never want to end and it very nearly doesn’t, the finish is exquisite with a real taste of burnt chocolate at the back of your mouth. Overall this expression offers excellent depth and body, combined with a delightful texture and flavour on the palate, it finds itself among some of our truly rich and indulgent whiskies.

The long awaited expression is to be released in bespoke packaging; a red wooden box designed to recreate the iconic Glenfarclas warehouse doors is presented inside a classic tertiary box. The red doors include a glossy metallic 30 Years Old age statement with Glenfarclas Warehouse stencilling, while the inside of the box reveals a luxurious interior, matching the purple border of our original 30 Years Old label.

Glenfarclas – 40yo

The Glenfarclas 40 Years Old, now at 43%, has a fresh sweetness and fruity Turkish delight aroma on the nose. Its freshness and power is similar to the first time you open a bag of freshly ground java coffee beans. Notes of light heather honey spread liberally over freshly buttered toast reveal a sweet taste, followed by a peppering of caramel and chocolate explosions. Sherry power creeping its way to the back of your mouth releases dark chocolate, raisins, and sultanas. It ends with a sweet, crisp, dry & lingering finish.

The long awaited expression is to be released in bespoke packaging; a red wooden box designed to recreate the iconic Glenfarclas warehouse doors is presented inside a classic grey tertiary box. The red doors include a glossy metallic 40 Years Old age statement with Glenfarclas Warehouse stencilling, while the inside of the box reveals a dark grey interior, replicating the grey stonework of our traditional dunnage style warehousing.

Tomatin

Making the most of captive holiday makers, the brand’s travel retail offerings are currently checking in to travel hubs initially around Europe, to be followed by the USA and Asia over the next few years. The age statement collection comprises the distillery’s flagship 12 year old and three travel retail exclusive editions: an 8 year old, a 15 year old and a rare 40 year old vintage.

Introducing the series is the 8 year old, matured in Bourbon and Sherry casks. The nose has aromas of vanilla-sweetened baked apples and pears developing into deeper dark fruit flavours, gently balanced with ginger and cinnamon for a sweet and spicy finish. Bottled at a strength of 40% with an RRP of 35 Euro.

The Tomatin 12 Year Old is a 1 Litre version of the distiller’s flagship malt which has an array of accolades including a double gold from the San Francisco World Spirits competition 2016. With an ABV of 43% and an RRP of 41.50 Euro.

Next up to board the range is the 15 year old, matured in North American Oak. Light and fresh on the nose, charming citrus fruits are well balanced with emerging honey and toffee flavours, lingering softly on the palate for some time. Bottled at a strength of 46%, the limited edition retails at 55 Euro.

The final expression is a 40 year old malt matured in Oloroso Sherry casks. According to the distillery this is a smooth and rounded triumph of dark and tropical fruits resulting in a big and fruity finish with just a touch of oak. Charles MacLean described this mature malt as ‘a highly distinguished whisky with a long, warming spirit’. Retailing at a price of 1250 Euro and bottled at 43%.

Wolfburn

  • Nose: you will sense sherry sweetness accompanied by dried fruits and malt.
  • Palate: there is a warmth imparted from the sherry, augmented by autumn fruits and nutty flavours, with a hint of spice in the background – wonderfully smooth and mellow.
