Tamdhu verkauft bereits seit ein paar Tagen online ihre Distillery Team Edition. und dann kam noch eine weitere Edition dazu, die es jetzt jedes Jahr zum Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival geben soll. Diageo startet mit einem 40-jährigen Talisker die Bodega Series Ende Juni. Big Peat wird es wieder als Feis Ile Edition geben. Und das erste Release von Daftmill wird über eine Verlosung angeboten. Von James Eadie kommen sechs neue Abfüllungen. Und die SMWS läutet das Festivalfieber ein.

Tamdhu – 120th

Alter: keine Angabe. Preis: 250.- GBP. Wenn das ein 500l Fass war, dann hat es maximal 16% Inhalt verloren. Bei bis zu 2% Angels Share komme ich da auf unter 10 Jahre. Mein Sample aus dem American Oak (gefiel mir besser) hatte aus 2001/2015 noch 60.3% nach etwa 14 Jahren. Dann könnte der hier auch um die 15 Jahre alt sein. Trotzdem: Stolzer Preis. Aber man zielt ja auch auf die Sammler.

Information aus dem Shop: „To mark the 120 th anniversary of our Speyside Distillery, the Single Cask Distillery Team Edition has now been released. Carefully selected by the 15-strong Tamdhu distillery team and bottled un-chill- filtered at cask strength. This unique single malt has been matured in the finest European oak first-fill sherry butt, creating a rich, sherry intensity and a deep natural colour. With only 603 individually numbered bottles being released this is a whisky that would sit proudly in the whisky cabinet of even the most committed collector.“

Original Tasting Notes

• Colour: Mahogany
• Nose: Toffee, apple, dates and raisins, cinnamon notes with a hint of the spiciness to come.
• Palate: Sweet and rich muscovado sugar, leading into butterscotch with marmalade oranges and fruity richness.
• Finish: Toffee, ripe bananas and light pepper, smooth, deep and long lasting.

Bei meinem Besuch von Tamdhu durfte ich zwei Fassproben (aus unterschiedlichen Sherryfässern) probieren: Tamdhu – „Afternoon tea and tours“. Das fand ich schon nicht schlecht, aber 250.- GBP……

Tamdhu Dalbeallie

Informationen auf der Shop-Seite: „This rare bottling has been created to honour Dalbeallie train station and the vital role the Victorian railway played in receiving Tamdhu’s precious sherry oak casks from Spain. Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram has notes of blackcurrant jam and mint tea on the nose, sherry oak and cream soda on the palate with a long, malt biscuit and cinnamon finish. And like every bottle of Tamdhu, the rich natural colour comes from the sherry casks alone. Only 1,000 individually numbered bottles will be made available worldwide of Collectors Journey 01 with future limited edition Dalbeallie Dram Collectors Journey releases planned annually for each Speyside Festival.“

Original Tasting Notes

• Nose: Blackcurrant jam, Bakewell Tart, vanilla, mint tea, pleasant spice with gentle black pepper.
• Palate: Balanced and rich, sherry oak, cream soda, bread and butter pudding, orange and nutmeg.
• Finish: Long with malt biscuit, dark chocolate and cinnamon.

Talisker

Erhältlich sein wird die erste Ausgabe Ende Juni 2018. Wie lang das Finishing war, wird nicht verraten.

Bottled at natural cask strength of 55.8%, this whisky represents a marriage of just three casks. Its rarity only adds to its sublime taste.“

Highland Park

Highland Park The Light ist der zweite Whisky einer zweiteiligen Serie und ergänzt seit Anfang 2018 Highland Park The Dark. Beide sind Sonderabfüllungen mit weltweit 28.000 Flaschen und einem Alkoholgehalt von 52,9%.

Aus der Pressemitteilung: „Dieser unverwechselbare und lebendige 17Jahre alte Single Malt Scotch Whisky reifte ausschließlich in amerikanischen Eichenfässern. Dadurch erhält er seine helle, natürliche Farbe und süße Aromen von Heidetorf, Muskat und Vanille.“

• Aromen: Vollmundig mit Noten von karamellisierter Birne, Muskatnuss, Vanille, Zedernholz, Eiche und Anklängen von Torfrauch
