Tasting Notes / Infos

Matured in ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks.

Described as having aromas of butterscotch and toffee apples with flavours of candy floss and a gentle touch of peat smoke, typical of the Cù Bòcan range.

UPDATE: die vollen Tasting Notes wurden nachgereicht…

  • AROMA: Butterscotch, to ee apples and honey are met with a hint of vanilla that binds these big sweet flavours together. The faint smoke of heather burning lingers in the background throughout. In time, chilli infused chocolate, lemon syrup and a very slight hint of smoked bacon emerge.
  • PALATE: A burst of candy floss and birch sap sweetness is complimented by a gentle touch of peat smoke which brings a rounded earthy note to the taste. Dark chocolate, winter spice and poached fruits leave a warming suggestion of Christmas pudding.
  • FINISH: Rounded and full. The combination of sweet and smoke is left to evolve on the palate with soft fruits continuing to play a role.

Big Peat – Edinburgh Edition

Big Peat ist ein Blended Malt: „With Caol Ila spirit bringing sweetness, Bowmore the perfect balance, Ardbeg the medicinal, earthy quality and Port Ellen, a degree of elegance, Big Peat represents all that is Islay in a bottle.

Abgefüllt wurde diese Edition zur Feier des „Fringe Festivals“. Zu haben wird er aber nur in UK/Online sein: „a handful of Edinburgh retailers, plus Master of Malt, The Whisky Exchange, The Green Welly Stop and DouglasLaing.com

Notes: „This edition of Big Peat immediately carries you to the beaches on Islay, peat smoke coming from the distillery maltings, salty rock pools and beach bonfire ashes. All of this balanced with a honey sweet character and a smoking BBQ character. A dram that brings Islay all the way to Edinburgh.

The Wanderer

Why is it called The Wanderer?
Because, from the cask records, we know that this little beauty has spent time in a number of different warehouses across Scotland, before we were able to get our mitts on it!

Where is it from?
We can’t reveal the distillery, but we can tell you that it is another Speyside single malt whisky from a different distillery to The Trojan.

Tasting Notes
Some folk have tried this already and they’ve left their feedback on our twitter feed, so have a look. Our tasting notes go something like this: Sunshine gold in colour, the nose gives off rich vanilla, lemon meringue pie, lavender and nubuck suede with hint of fresh lime peel. On the palate there is a lovely rounded vanilla, with bourbon-eque hints it is packed full of flavour from tropical fruits through to toasted marshmallow. The addition of water sees gala melon appear on the palate, with key lime pie and oak spices coming through. The finish is medium in length with sweet tropical fruits once again, and a focus on ripe mango and peach.

Benromach

The golden whisky has a sweet vanilla scent followed by a balance of tropical fruit, cocoa powder and peat smoke aromas. Its smooth but spicy flavour exudes sweet bursts of banana, mango and passionfruit, complemented by bonfire embers, leading to a smoky edge.

Kilkerran

Der erste 12-jährige von Kilkerran wird erst ab heute im Shop in Campbeltown erhältlich sein und dann langsam auch in UK und international auftauchen.

Kilkerran 12yo has been matured in a marriage of bourbon (70%) and sherry (30%) casks

  • Nose: oak notes are dominant, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat
  • Palate: initially fruity with citrus notes and orange peel, after this: vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuits can all be tasted and enjoyed
  • Finish: velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there’s an oiliness and a saltiness that you’d expect from a Campbeltown dram
