Neuerscheinungen der Woche: In der Spirit & Cask Range von Whiskymax gibt es wieder fünf neue Abfüllungen. Ein 7-jähriger irischer Whiskey von St. Patrick’s. Von Compass Box gibt es einen „Spirit Drink“, der zum 10-jährigem Jubiläum der Zusammenarbeit mit der Agentur Stranger & Stranger abgefüllt wurde. Und von Douglas Laing gab es gleich drei besondere Abfüllungen: einen 21-jährigen Bowmore (Private Stock), den 12-jährigen Timorous Beastie in Fassstärke und einen 26-jährigen Big Peat (Platinum Edition).

- Nase: Marzipan, Rosenöl, andere florale und liebliche Noten, insgesamt blumig und mild und doch intensiv
- Geschmack: Mehr Marzipian, auch im Geschmack durch die Fassstärke sehr intensiv, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, nussig und süß
- Abgang: Mandeleis und Vanille im langen, mundfüllenden Abgang
St. Patrick’s
Aus der Pressemitteilung: „St. Patrick’s 7 Jahre ist ein blended Whiskey, der ausschließlich in Bourbonfässern reifte. Der Whiskey wurde aus gemälzter und ungemälzter Gerste hergestellt und reifte in First-Fill American Oak Fässern. Ein schöner milder und ausgewogener Whiskey.“

Auszug aus der Produktseite: „Some may call it sacrilege, but we thought the addition of one year old ‘sacrificial spirit’ would be the perfect component to use in our limited edition blend to celebrate ten years of collaboration with our good friends at the package design company Stranger & Stranger. In the 30 plus design projects we’ve worked on together, we typically provide a core idea and direction, but for this special project, we let Stranger & Stranger design what they liked. All I told them was we were working on a recipe incorporating some amazing one year old grain spirit we had used to season some experimental American oak barrels. You’ll find aromas and flavours in this Stranger spirit that remind you of custard and dark sugars, fresh apple and an appealing herbal character. It has a sweetness on the palate that will call you back to the glass, owing to just one percent of the recipe using our delicious sacrificial spirit. “
